CopyWrite

I finally purchased CopyWrite. While it was not as cool as Ulysses, it also did not cost me a trip to the plasma bank. Writing with this application is joy, and I may just make a script so I can post here from it (Full screen editing!). I even use it now for class notes. Anyway, as much as I love it, there is one major annoyance that I could not get over: when you are editing in full screen mode, there is a line that goes across the top of the screen, and it is very distrating. I removed it. CopyWrite is now one line better. I will post the nib later.

I couldn’t vote!

I came prepared to vote. I had my license, my voter registration card, etc. I was voting in a new place because I moved, so I had to find it ahead of time.
And someone stole my wallet.
I back home in time to look for another ID, and then the place closed…
Not fun.

mail.app 1.x vertical pane view

With the program letter-box, people can get a 3 column view in 10.4’s Mail.app. Well, I don’t have Tiger, so I did it myself. Behold: the 2 column plus drawer view. I like it a lot more than the old one horizontal view. You can download the nib here. If you need intallation instructions, you can find them on Hawk Wings.

It was fairly easy to do: I opened the nib, changed the horizontal divider to a vertical one, and then adjusted the size of the message area. Click the image below for a better shot.

iBook G3 battery take-apart

I just took apart my dead iBook battery. I only did it to get the LEDs and switch, but thought it was interesting and took pictures of it. Some things to note:

  • It was made by Sony… *Boom*
  • Some parts look as if they are held by JB Weld
  • The little black piece looks like its purpose is to check how hot the battery gets.

The pictures are located on flicker.

kerry.john.commonsense = false

Its amazing to think that people voted for this guy.

Let’s get the record straight first: Kerry is not sorry. Why is Kerry not sorry? Let’s find out.
1) His statement: “if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” This is obvious, and I do not need to explain it.
2) His apology, found here: johnkerry.com

He claims that it was a poorly stated joke, and that he apologizes that it was “misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform.” Here is the really obvious reason why it was not an apology: he blamed you. Yep, thats right. He blamed every person that was offended by such remarks. People were only offended because they “misinterpreted” his “joke.” And he is sorry that they were dumb enough to do so.
