Bush’s executive order

George Bush made an executive order to prevent the taking of peoples land for any arbitrary reason. At least it seems that way. I’ll have to read it again, when I am less tired (its late), but this is something I have not thought would happen.

buy your own island!

This is the first time I have ever seen an island on eBay. An entire island! And, its about the same price as the house I am living in. I think I got ripped off :).

my penny at work

Mobile Highway was once one of the better paved streets in Pensacola, until it was decided that it be repaved. Now it is very bumpy. I find it extremely irritating that my taxes are being spent on repaving an already paved road. I am even more irritated that the extra 1% sales tax down here is being use for repaving already paved roads.

There is so much more in Pensacola that could be made better using that 1% tax, such as better pay for the police officers. It would also be better used if I had it to use. I might be able to purchase a working hard drive if I had that extra 1%.

the computer religion

Well, after a long hiatus, I am back. It took a while, but I am finally getting back on top of things; reading, reading on the internet, no longer working 6 days a week. I also have a computer again. Its an old one. Actually, its my first laptop that was rebuilt from spare parts lying around. I’ll post a picture later. Its almost neat.
It runs Linux. It is Ubuntu 6.06, or rather, xubuntu. I grew tired of Gnome and switched to XFCE. XFCE turns out to be really nice, and is almost made me forget why I liked MacOS so much; until I saw FrontRow.
